Bus-stop Relocation Feasibility Study in Sigmaringen
- Owner City of Sigmaringen
- Project period 06/2014 - 10/2014
As part of an urban renewal project, the Fürst-Wilhelm-Straße (street) between Leopoldplatz (square) and the railway crossing in Sigmaringen is to be redesigned and rebuilt. The planned road layout proposes the removal of the existing bus-stop and relocating it in the Antonstraße. The bus-stop is currently serviced by 7 regional bus lines and functions as a transfer point for the minutes-walk-away railway-station. In this context, it is required to investigate whether and where to can the stop be relocated. The study investigated the impact of rerouting several bus lines to the central bus stop at Leopoldplatz and their impact on the existing bus schedule, transfer times to the railway-station and walking times to main destinations. Additionally, a new location for a replacement stop is proposed and investigated. Finally, changes to the trip timetable to accommodate the new arrivals / departures are proposed and the newly introduced bus stop is designed.
