The Eastern suburbs redevelopment area is located to the east of Wangener Straße (B 32) and borders the historic city center of Ravensburg directly to the north. Within this area, a design competition for an urban planning concept for the Bezner quarter was launched . It is intended to revitalize the Bezner quarter, so that the urban situation and the future quality of the entire neighborhood is redefined and improved.

In view of the discussion surrounding the access to the planned underground car park and the induced traffic through the planned development, a traffic concept was developed for the eastern suburb. As part of a traffic study, the existing traffic loads as well as changes brought about by the newly induced traffic are assessed. Furthermore, by using license plate number registration techniques, the through traffic, which have neither an origin nor a destination in the neighborhood, were determined. In order to reduce the through traffic load, concepts and traffic control measures were developed and analyzed using a macroscopic traffic model and comparatively evaluated.
